Tuition Assistance Bursary Program

This tuition assistance is financed by a grant from the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports & Culture, and the Government of Belize. It provides support for full-time students enrolled in the University at either the bachelor or Associate degree level.


This assistance is tenable for one semester excluding the Summer Semester and only covers tuition. Student may reapply each subsequent semester for this funding. Please note that this assistance is targeting students who demonstrate financial need. In order, to benefit from this assistance students must provide proof of at least 50% payment of their tuition. This support may cover up to 25% of their remaining tuition balance. Providing false information on the form, with the intention of misleading, will result in cancellation of your application, reimbursement of funds paid out, and possible barring from applying for future financial support from UB.

Requirements

  • Be a citizen of Belize
  • Complete scholarship application form
  • Submit a 300-word essay demonstrating financial need
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • TD4 of parents, and self if employed
  • Transcript

Responsibilities

  • Enroll full time (minimum of 12 credits) each semester
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0;
  • Give consent for grade release to the offices of institutional advancement and student services for the purpose of reporting to the university;
  • Perform institutional and/or community service;
  • Abide by all university rules, regulations and codes of conduct for students;
  • Remain in good academic standing at the university;
  • Provide information to the offices of institutional advancement and student services, in respect of any outside resources or assistance, or any change in financial status; comply with all other requirements agreed upon, on acceptance of the scholarship; and inform the offices of institutional advancement and student services of intended withdrawal from the University of Belize, dropping of any courses, or change of name or address

Conditions

  • To determine continuation of scholarship, an annual review of students’ records shall be conducted to ensure that they maintain the minimum GPA and that they abide by university policies. If these requirements are not met, the award may be terminated.
  • The Fund does not support repeat courses or overloads.
  • Students who have completed their program with the support of this award cannot reapply for support to a new program. This is to ensure that as many students as possible benefit from this award.
