Wellness Center Overview
The University of Belize Wellness center welcomes you with the hope that our services can be of help to you. The Center is staffed with a Front Desk worker, University Nurse, and University Counselor; each trained to maintain confidentiality. We provide a variety of services to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Belize. It is our hope that we may be of service to our partners in assisting them to live their best lives through medical and mental interventions.

Services Provided
All services offered by the staff of the Wellness Center are free to Students, Faculty, and Staff of the University of Belize.
University Nurse
- Provide confidential health advice to individual students
- Assess and administer appropriate medical interventions based on need
- Provide access to emergency based medication/relief items.
- Engage in open discussions/seminars on health Related topics.
University Counselor
- Mental health Counseling/ Support
- Group Counseling
- Distress Tolerance skills training
- Class Presentations/discussions
- Help with specific mental health related conditions
– Homesickness
– Depression
– Anxiety
– Sleep Difficulties
– And other Clinically Significant presentations.

Wellness Center
Located at the University of Belize Belmopan Campus, Administration Building. Access to Wellness center Services can be done via online means of virtual sessions for the University Nurs and University Counselor. To Request these services, please feel free to email the respective service provider for more details.

Wednesday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

University Counselor
Jeremy Vargas is a Registered Clinical Psychologist who is here to provide you with additional support you may need. He engages in a holistic approach using the mind-body relationship to provide interventions that are helpful to developing college students. Mr. Vargas’s skill set, along with practice and engagement provides a comfortable environment for individuals seeking services. He invited you to check in on your mental health for a more optimistic and valued way of living.

University Nurse:
Nurse Pauline Bowen is a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, and a Public Health Nurse. She has a wealth of experience she uses to ensure our students, faculty, and staff of UB receive the best care possible. Nurse Bowen is an advocate for healthy living, ensuring that healthy eating and sleeping practices are followed. Come on down to the wellness center and meet our University Nurse.
